Hive 4 May Block for Barb

Hi it's Amanda again. This month Barb asked for HST Magic. My first attempt I wasn't happy with the layout and felt I needed more Anna Maria Horner fabrics.
Here are the other 2 blocks I made, that I added more color options.

So i'm sending Barb all 3 blocks. Hope these will fit in with your quilt plan!
She wanted to know do we make quilts to use or look at. I have only made quilts to use. I am not afraid of white at all and use it frequently. If I give someone a quilt I want them to use it and not just display it! Here is one of my latest quilts with a lot of white.

Amanda - I think quilts should be used to death! They are cuddles of love. Thanks for your beautiful blocks - you've gone beyond the call of duty! They're all beautiful!!!

Love your blog. I would love to know ...What are your favorite battings for a soft drapeable quilt to be used as a lap or small bed quilt? I tend to use W&N cotton.

@Donna H130 I nearly always use Hobbs 80/20. I've quilted with the W&N cotton and it quilts up nicely, too. Sometimes I'll use a bottom layer of 80/20 and top it with wool. Makes the quilting really stand out and is soft and warm.
