Hive 3

My first blog post!  I expected to easily whip out a couple of these blocks, but that's not how it went.  I had trouble getting them to measure 6 1/4", and I finally did.  The top left is my correct block, and the top right is 6.25", but I cheated on that one, and used wider strips, so the seams aren't gonna line up right.  The other blocks, on the lower right, are smaller--I'm mailing them too, and you can do whatever you want with them, Debbie.  Lastly is my signature block--feel free to trim it to size if you want.  In spite of this being more work than I'd expected, it was a good experience.  Part of the fun of being in a bee is learning new stuff and trying things outside my realm.  I don't applique, but this was a good, simple shape for me, and it went well!  :)  I will mail them out tomorrow.

My March Hive 2 block

Once again, I had photo issues.  The background really is Azure solid.  I enjoyed making this block.  I may have to make a tree quilt for myself one of these days.  I will get this on in the mail next week, as well.

My Hive 1 finished block

Sorry about the somewhat fuzzy photo.  I have had trouble with this block from the beginning.  I have done quite a bit of foundation piecing, so this should have been to problem, but this one really got me.  I hope it is to your satisfaction, Cindy.  I will get it in the mail next week.

I think I did it!

When Sunni put up her tree block, I thought, 'not fair, I want to do one' . So you would think, when our Hive Mamma for this month asked for one, I would go 'Yippee, I know what I am doing!' No, not quite. I had all sorts of ideas, some wildly over ambitious, but nothing quite hitting my spot. And then, last night, I was talking to a friend, who is not a sewer at all, and then it came, so, I hope you like it, Tara!
I am sorry about the quality of the image, but I have left our camera at work, so am using the video camera instead!

It took a long time but the block is done and I just can hope the bee queen likes it ...

As soon as the signature block is finished I will sent it.

Star Block for Cindy Hive 1

I loved trying out this great block, I hope it sits well in the quilt Cindy. I used fabric I won in the Fugly Fabric Party from Kelli at Small Town Stitcher. I love the thought that fabric I won from the US came to the UK to be made into a block to go back to the US to be part of a QOV!

Im also wondering if any of the ladies who have the up-coming months have decided what solid they want to use? I've run out of Kona White but dont want to place an order until I know what I am going to need. I'd be really grateful if April/May/June could let me know.

Hive #1 - Cindy's block

Stash Bee #1 March 2012
I've been wanting to make this block!  When I saw Cindy was requesting it as her March block for Hive #1 and using them to make a quilt for Quilts of Valor,  I knew I needed to make one for her (even though I'm in another Hive). Blessings as you stitch them all together to make the quilt top Cindy!
Take care,
Nancy D.
