Quilts for Pulse Charity Drive

Hello Everyone,
My name is Diana Mattoni and I am the hive mama for hive 3. I'm also an Orlando resident and part of the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild. As you know, on June 12th we experienced a horrible tragedy at the downtown nightclub Pulse and lost the lives of 49 people. In an effort to comfort the victims' families, the injured, the survivors, and anyone else directly affected by this atrocious hate crime, we are going to do what we do best -- make quilts.

If you would like to help, we are asking for heart quilt blocks so that we can make more than 100 quilts over the next 4 months. More information and a sign up form can be found on the national Modern Quilt Guild website. We will also be posting updates on the local Orlando MQG website.  Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. We've already had such an outpouring of love and support within the quilting community and we can't thank you enough.

Thank you for spreading the word. I feel less helpless now, and this is a lovely way to show love and support for one another--a most fitting response.

The Dallas MQG is collecting blocks at its June and July meetings - I will be dropping off at least some blocks, hopefully a whole quilt top. I'll leave the quilting and binding to someone more experienced with that part! My binding skills are a bit dodgy.
