I can't believe there is less than a week until Thanksgiving in the States. Julia had a create a festive orange block this month. It went together quickly, even though it took me longer to get started. Note to self, read the directions from start to finish first.
My favorite part of the bee this year has been waiting for the first of the month to see what new block I got to tackle. It has been a pleasure working with you lovely ladies of Hive 6. May your holiday season be filled with family, friends, and good cheer.
Thanks!

Hive 9 Erin's block
I like this block, I will have to add it to my star stash.
I will be getting them out in the mail this week.
As for her question??? Really can't tell. There have been many ups and downs
in my life. Yes some downs were very low. Losing my mother at a young age
was a big low, but our family grew stronger together and we all are good people.
We would have done well with her, but my father made sure we were ok. He was
strong for us.

Hive 7 November block
We were asked to share our favorite quilt or quilted thing that we have made for:
- ourself- I participated in a Scrappy Trip Along swap and made the quilt for myself. I love this block pattern.
- others - My favorite quilts for others have been for my granddaughters.
Lizzies I-Spy Reversible Quilt
I used them to make a quilt for my niece, Elizabeth. I love how that each block has a story.
Yvonne from CA sent me three blocks in bright colors, a monkey, a giraffe, a butterfly and some soldiers, Kaja from the UK sent me a bright pink bicycle, Yanick from FL sent a cute yellow bumblebee and a way cool surfing girl. Caroline from CA sent cute orange kitties and a pink ballerina, Jo from the UK sent a proper London bus. Sue from MN sent a butterfly and yummy strawberry. Helen from Ireland went overboard with little red riding hood, a house, a fox, and a Santa - you could make up a great story with those alone! I really love the diversity of this group.

Hive 2 November blocks for Helen
These blocks were great fun after I figured out the selvedge thing. I cut a few too small before I realized I had to add some extra into the fabric so they showed enough fabric.
I loved all the freedom with these blocks, any size, any color, any size strip. I didn't feel like I was going to make them wrong! LOL. I think putting these colorful blocks in an array of sizes on a neutral background will look fantastic. I can't wait to see the finished quilt.
When I make mistakes, I usually rip them out. Unless they are a happy accident! Sometimes the mistake looks good enough to keep, and in that case I will keep it. For me quilting is relaxing, and personally I find ripping out seams relaxing too, so I don't mind ripping them all and starting again. It is all good therapy!

November block- Hive 9
I loved playing with the rainbow for this block! I hope you enjoy it Erin.
I loved the question- I think the time that was the hardest for me was moving away from my college friends to a town that I did not want to move to, but did it for love. I learned a lot about myself and my boyfriend, now husband.
November Hive 3
Here is my finished block for Laura. I know this is outside your color comfort zone but it is right smack dab in mine! I hope you like it- I think this is going to be a really pretty quilt!

Quilt of Valor Blocks for Rozsamaria
Another fun challenge this month. Our task was to make a scrappy red and gold block to be incorporated in a Quilt of Valor. A worthy goal for November and Veteran's Day commemoration. I did not have any metallic gold, so opted for the cream choice. My personal challenge was making precise and crisp points. Here are my two blocks:
This block exchange group has been sew fun, and inspiring. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone, and gained some new blogging skills, too. Best of all, new friends from all over the world. Yay!
This month's two part question, my favorite quilted thing I've made for myself and for someone else?
My sister Pam and I made these charming quilted wall hangings in tandem. She did the one of our mom, I did the one of our dad. We are not sure of their ages, both are probably 15 or 16.
I have the quilts now, to hang in our cabin home. Sweet and innocent.
My favorite quilt for someone else is my magnum opus, a king sized, hand appliqued quilt titled "Lollipop Trees" The pattern was by Kim McLean, and made with mostly Kaffe Fassett prints. This was my first block of the moth venture, completed in 20 months, as a gift for my daughter Ainsley.
Sewing with my hive mates has been a wonderful experience. I look forward to next year and many more adventures in quilting. Now, off to finish my wonky churn dash quilt! XO
