Hive 2 - July Tutorial

I am so happy to be here and be the Queen for our hive for July.

I am Jan and currently living in West Michigan. I've only been quilting for a few years, but do enjoy the community.  I have learned so many things from these bees and have tried blocks I may have never tried.

My pick for July is from Moda Bake Shop.  Here is the Countdown to Christmas, Merri-Mints.  This pattern makes one 6 1/2 inch block.  Please make 4 blocks.

Like their pattern, I am picking reds and whites.  Please use white as the background, no creams or beiges.  For the reds I prefer all reds as the base.  If it is a red with other red tones or red with some white or other color, please be sure red is the main focus.

Other than that, please have fun.  Here is the sample I put together.

I do have a new address which I've updated in our bee document, so please check it before you mail your block to me.

Hi, this is a very pretty block and the colours you chose are perfect for July. I see the Moda pattern makes one 6 1/2 “ Block, Your sample has 4 sewn together. Do you want us to make four (4) of these little guys? And do you want them all the same colour or can we make each different? I hope to get into the studio early this week and indulge my sew-self and will mail them off soon. Thanks for reminding me to print off a new copy of address info for our Hive.

Velda, I would love each small block the same, which will make the 12 1/2 inch block with 4 different small blocks.
