Hive 5 July Block

One of my favorite things about the Stash Bee has been creating blocks that aren't on my to do list but  Iend up loving!  So far, I have enjoyed everyone's blocks, but this month's really speaks to me -  I love log cabinesque blocks!  Kelly, I had fun going through my stash and choosing fabrics for this block - your palette is lovely!

I went outside to take this picture for better lighting, but a storm is coming so perhaps not my best idea!

As to her question (Best tool for new quilters)  I would have to go with a good ruler - spend the money to get the one with grips, a good grid, that has up to an eighth inch marked!  Well worth the investment!  Happy sewing!
