HIVE 3 Beautiful Basket quilt block

Hello to all you little sew bees out there! I’m Doretta and I get to be Queen bee this month!

My block is partially inspired by the last block we did. I had those fabrics with me when I traveled to Atlanta so I just used those as my prototype.

I love bright white bright pink and bright green…sort of a Lilli Pulitzer look.

I like green for the bottom of the basket and pink for the flowers and a bright white for the background. The website I am using to refer you to for instructions is Adventuresofadiymom.com. I found it in pinterest and would like you to use the pattern for a 9” block.

This is my finished block sample.

I cut this exactly using the instruction on the website.

I cut a 6.5 square 1white and 1pink these will be the flowers when cut.

I cut a 5.5 square 1white 1green and this will make two triangles when cut, but you will only use one for the basket bottom.

This block will measure 5x5 when it is opened up.

The rectangles 2 3/4 x 5 and are cut out of the background fabric, bright white.(I found a correction by her in the video it was a quick flash on the screen in black.)

Before I assembled the block
Assembling the block
Partially assembled
The triangles measure 2 3/4
See the ruler …it measures 9” 1/2 so your finished block with 1/4 seam allowance works out to a 9” block.

Your fabrics can have texture etc as long as they are white white.

I can’t believe it is the beginning of September already!

I’m looking forward to your happy blocks!

Doretta
