Happy New Year everyone!
I'm a native New Orleanian and this is my first Stash Bee. I started quilting over 25 years ago when my friends and co-workers began having babies. My first quilting class was an all-hand sewn twin sampler top which I recently finished hand quilting! I know! My career changed paths and I put my quilting aside. Only during COVID when I was searching for fabric to make masks did I rediscover my stash and thought - jeez, I gotta start quilting again. My husband recently passed and quilting has become my therapy. I sew just about everyday making throw size quilt tops that I stow away for quilting at another time. My new year's resolution is to start machine quilting some of these throws but here in New Orleans, I can only do that in the winter so I don't have to keep cranking down the air conditioner! I've now started making baby quilts again but for friend's grandchildren.
We only have 1 quilt store here in New Orleans and they started a quilt bee a few months ago. It was at one of our monthly meetings that a member of another hive mentioned Stash Bee. I was fascinated. So here I am, ready to dive in and start creating. My other hobbies include traveling, exercise, reading and quilting!
