My name is Alanna and this is my first time in the Stash Bee. I am very excited to try out new blocks and learn. I am a beginner quilter and am self-taught. Check me out on IG if you want to see my progress: @the_handmade_tail
I currently live in Northeastern British Columbia (Canada) in a town called Fort St John, with my rescue pit bull, Indi. I am curious if I am the farthest north of all the stash-bee participants? Let me know if you live north of 56 degrees latitude!
Having just made a New Years resolution to not procrastinate, I got to work making these blocks this morning. I don't have a lot of purple but managed to find a few prints and a few solids.
The blocks were fairly easy but pressing seams open and not sewing them shut again is a challenge for me. I succeeded this time thanks to starch!

I love how all the strips matched up in your top block! Nice work!
The blocks are really pretty.
They both look great! Yes, starch definitely helps with pressing seams opens so I should have mentioned that in my tutorial. And like Liz mentioned, those stripes really matched up beautifully! I can't wait to add them to my collection.
