Hive 3 March Block for Carolyn

When I saw Carolyn's choice for her block this month I said,  "GREAT!" Flying geese were something that I always wanted to do, but somehow never did!  My friend chose a similar block for her stash bee last year and I thought I would try it then, but I always managed to find something else to do.

After choosing the colors, which I think work well and fit Carolyn's parameters, I went to work.  Unfortunately, I don't like to have WIPs, so I like to finish the stash bee blocks in one sitting.  It took a little longer than I expected, but having the four at a time option made the process quicker.

I think it came out great although I enjoy a more improv approach ( obviously - see my feb block).  No room for error in these.  Although I cut the small pieces for the mini geese, I didn't use them.  Maybe next time!

Carolyn asked to share favorite quilt block.  I can't.  Generally my favorite quilts come from playing with my fabric and seeing what happens.  I enjoy piecing irregularly shaped blocks - those that are inconsistent but will blend when I start playing.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to go out of "my" box!

  1. That is a beautiful block. I love your addition of the citron green. There will be so much movement in the finished quilt that (hopefully) makes all the precision piecing worthwhile.
