Hive 3 August

I thought I made a boo boo on this one!  Debbie asked for a fussy cut centre primarily 2 colours and to mirror those colours with HST wings.  I picked a hummingbird with a flower and mimicked those colours.  Forgot that there was also orange and green!  Thankfully when I asked Debbie should I remake she said don't you dare!  So this is my August block - loving the hot pink and aqua colour combo (I would never have picked this to go together but it seems to work!)
Our question was what inspired us to start sewing.  We never had a sewing machine at home.  I loved making things and used to embroider.  My aunt was a proper seamstress and could make anything.  She used to take apart dresses and rework them for me and from time to time made bridesmaids dresses.  It always looked so hard to do!  When we moved into our house about 8 or 9 years ago (first home together!) there was an offer in Lidl for a Lervia machine for 69 Euro. I bought it and it sat in the box for 5 years!  Eventually I came across a Craftsy class with Jenny Doan called quilting quickly and carried on from there - thank you Jenny for starting me on this fun creative path!
