These were fun blocks to make! I think I've make them 3 or 4 times now for various bees, always with different color schemes, and I think I like how they turn out with just about any option. I made two blocks this month, one angel block for Diana's for the month. The block looks more complicated than it is too - it took me longer to pick my fabrics and cut the pieces than actually sew them together. Which was good, because I did the cutting the first week of May, but didn't get the last of the sewing done until this afternoon. I'll get these in the mail tomorrow. -- Jennifer

Hive 6 - May block for Kimberly
Here are my blocks for your charity quilt Kimberly......they are ready to go out in tomorrow's mail, though it may be a bit before they arrive as mail from Canada seems to take longer.
Till next month,

Hive 1 May Block for Julia
Julia picked the 'X and Plus' block for our hive this month, and an exciting, bright selection of colors to go with it. This was a fun block to make, and I'm sure the finished quilt will be stunning!
Julia--I put your block in the mail today.

Hive 4 block for Bethany
After a full month of not sewing because of a move, I went to my first ever sewing retreat and sewed all the things, including Bethany's block. I hope it's ok - I don't have much in the way of corals or interesting purples.
It'll be in the post by this weekend, Bethany!

Hive 2 Blocks for Kate
Hi Kate,
Well this month flew by, especially the first part of the month getting ready to go to Quilt Market in St Louis and then trying to get back on track once returned. I finished them last week but have been slack about posting. So here they finally are and hope they fit well with all the others. Also, a belated Happy Birthday to you Kate.
Can't wait to see next month's block in just a couple of day.

HIve 2 Converging Corners blocks for Kate
OK. First, I've got to say that "Hamsterley" -- where Kate lives -- sounds like it's straight out of a Beatrix Potter story! I love it!
Secondly, I'm sorry for getting this done so late. Let's just say that Life grabbed me by the hair, started running, and proceeded to drag me along.
Once I got around to making these blocks over the weekend, I took my time. Their free-form nature just lent itself to a relaxed pace... something I had been missing.

Thanks, Kate. These will be in the post to you ASAP. I'm looking forward to seeing how your quilt turns out!
Cheers!

Hive 5 - May
Beth's choice of flying geese was fun and quick. Her post listed multiple methods. I've tried them all and no matter what, I still question whether they are the correct measurement.
These blocks have been received. I'm looking forward to seeing all the blocks joined together.

Hive 1 Block for Julia
Hello Julia, Diane G at Hive 1 here with your May block. I really enjoyed the easy math for this block and oversized pieces. Fun colors. Hope you enjoy my version.
Converging Corners for Kate
Here are two blocks for Kate. My math skills weren't functioning so I didn't get as many colors in as I had planned, but I'm hoping they work well with your quilt anyway! I'm planning to make it to the post office today. Enjoy.

Blocks for Susan
I made these blocks about a week ago and have been waiting for a sunny day to take photos. Looks like that's not going to happen anytime soon and it's getting late in the month so I took photos yesterday, rainy day.
I pulled some fabrics from my stash and made this block ....
This one is better though it still has a lot of blue and green. I'm sending both to you, Susan, and maybe the all blue one will fit in or not. They're in today's mail.

Well, my stash is mostly in the green-blue-violet range and when I looked at the block I thought it didn't look too scrappy since it was all blues. So I made another block ....

Here's my sewing space on a rainy day here in the western NC mountains with the lights on.

Hive 6 May Blocks
I really need to color coordinate my fabric!! These will be in the mail tomorrow. I hope these fit into quilt you have planned. Every month I say I'm not going to procrastinate, and it still happens.
May Block for Susan Hive 3
This was a fun little block to make and I finished it about a week or so ago but I've been really busy, so here I am posting today. This will be a lively quilt Susan and I hope my block fits in well with the others.
Susan also asked us to share a photo of our sewing space from the door. Here's mine. Susan's request spurred me to tidy up my sewing room. It really needed a tidy up so I am happy she asked for the photo, although the room is starting to move back towards messiness now.
I took the photo in the evening so the blind is drawn but you can see that the table is set up to get light at the sewing machine. The quilts on the shelf are donation quilts for my guild, temporarily at my place and the baskets under the table are also filled with materials for our outreach committee, although some of my stash bee blocks from last year are in the left hand corner of the photo.
I'll get the quilt block in the mail next week Susan!

My first crash
Since I had the privilege of being Queen for Hive 3 this month, I had thought I would get experience by making other hive blocks. So I did connecting corners for Kate in Hive 2 because I had not done that block before. I may try it again
I made cats for Jan in Hive 9. This block was on a" blocket" list (my new phrase rather than a bucket list). I have cat lovers in my family and friends so this is a real possibility for me. I had seen it on Missouri Star and was eager to make this.
I made flying geese for Beth in Hive 5 because I need more experience with them. Why do perfectly pressed blocks look totally unpressed in a picture???????
I made nine-patches for Kimberly in Hive 6 because she will need a lot of these for her projects and I had squares already cut just the right size.
Hive 3 May block for Susan
I posted this on Instagram early in the month and almost forgot to post here. Oops!
Here is my block for Susan, such a quick, fun and colorful block. I hope you like it. :)
And here is a picture of my work space. I have a corner of out bonus room. The door you see next to my machine is our walk in attic, which actually is nice for extra storage.
It looks messy, but is is organized chaos I promise. ;)

Susan, I made this playful and colorful. I'll make a second that's a bit more mainstream and get them in the mail by tomorrow.
I also took pictures of my studio, a work in progress, it's a mess right now but will eventually be well organized and laid out. We live in a 115 year old building and my studio was literally carved out of the second floor attic.

Hive 6 Block for Kimberly
Kimberly, thank you for a quick and easy block. I'll remember this one for times I need a quick child's quilt, or just feel like sewing something easy (all the time!). I put these in the mail this morning. Enjoy!

May Hive 2 Converging Corners
Hi All
I usually love all types of improvisational type blocks that give some freedom to create but for some reason I struggled with this block and getting the strips to work out to the right size. I sent two blocks as one has a little smudge that should be ok, but thought I'd make another one in case it didn't work out. They also seem to be a little too full in the middle and not lay flat. It's a really cool block and the secondary design is super cool. Can't wait to see them all together. Hope you like these and they will work with all the others.

Hive 6 Blocks for Kimberly
I love how easy this block was to make! If it wasn't for the fact that my daughter is graduating and my life is chaotic right now, I would have made a couple more. This is how many I could squeeze in. Hope you like them, Kimberly!
Hive 2, May Block for Kate
I'm not sure why this block took me so long to make when I've made it before. I left it big so you could trim down yourself. Hope you like it Kate.
Hive 4 Converging Corners for Bethany...
Here's my May Block for Bethany. I would have never thought to put purple and peach together but I think this quilt is going to be STUNNING! It was raining when I took the photo so it's a little dark.

MAY HIVE 7 Block
Hive 2 May block for Kate
Kate, I've had this finished for a week now, but as usual I'm slow to mail and post! I really enjoyed this one - we have similar tastes in bright, saturated fabric I think. ;) And what's not to love about rummaging through the scrap bins?!

HIVE 1 MAY BLOCK
Julia..... Below are the blocks I made for you. Hope they will work well for your quilt. I really enjoyed making them. Happy Sewing!!!
May Blocks for Bethany {Hive 4}
These were fun to put together, Bethany! I did not have a lot of each color, but these did come together quite nicely. I used a lot of Carolyn Friedlander Architextures since you mentioned those fabrics in your original post. :)

Hive 7 May Blocks
Rebecca here from One Wee Bird with Jen's blocks for May
Loved these blocks even though they were tricky little beggars at times!
Can't wait to see them all together in this fab colour range
Better get my A into G for my turn as Queen next month aaaghh
Hive 9 May blocks received
I received blocks today from Betsy (thank you daughter for the cute sketch on the envelope :), Sherry and hive crasher Liz. So excited to stitch this quilt together. Jan
Purple Majesty
I hope it is okay that I fussy cut sweetness in one of the blocks. I thoroughly enjoyed making this block as these complementary colors happen to be among my favorites (second only to yellow). This is a definite project on my wish list. Such happiness! Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt.

Hive 9 - May Block for Jan
Jan picked a fun block, that was simple to make. I had thought to have my cats go in opposite directions, but since I'm directionally challenged I think they are too. But the great thing is that Jan doesn't care which way they face...Yeah!!!
I think her daughter will love the quilt, because I've seen some pretty cute blocks being made. I was supposed to mail these earlier this week, but they didn't go out until today, but they are still on time.

May block for hive 4
This was a nice block. I can't say that it was a fast block for me, but that is my fault; I kept stopping to do other things. It was easy to quickly pick it back up though.

Jen,
I love paper piecing and these butterflies were so much fun.
I can't wait to see what you do with these. Lauren

You may have already seen my blocks live and in person--I mailed them on Monday and just getting around to posting now.

Here is my contribution to your May quilt. I hope your vacation was a fun one and that most of your blocks have already arrived. It took me far longer to post this than to make the blocks !! I seem to have to relearn the blogging procedure each month. At least you were only kidding when you first told us all what was going to be involved in creating this block.

Hive 5 - May Blocks
For this month, Beth asked for these really fun flying geese blocks using a solid for the geese and a bright print for the background. There's only one problem - I hardly ever sew with solids! I tend to prefer blenders that read as a solid to actual solid fabrics so I really had to dig deep into my stash to find fabrics for these geese.
I had to get a little creative with my color choices and made some geese that were solid white and brown. I hope that I've paired them with bright enough backgrounds that they'll still go with the rest of the blocks and work in the quilt!
I hope you like them, Beth!
