Hive 1 - March Tutorial

Can you believe it's March?  Even with the extra day, February passed by in a blink.  I had the most difficult time choosing a block.  I made 6 different samples, pictures and all, and then decided to create something on my own. I started with this sketch.

I'm always trying to use scraps so I thought I'd give you an opportunity to use some as well.

The only guidelines for the print pieces are that I am not that fond of brown and that each print should be different.  As for the "whites" - use any white, off white, white on white or a low volume that is primarily white. (The square in the bottom right is actually off white.)

Here's what you need:

Print:  (5) 2.5 x 2.5
           (1) 2.5 x 4.5

White  (4) 2.5 x 2.5
            (2) 2.5 x 4.5
            (1) 2.5 x 6.5
              (3) 2.5 x 12.5

Here's all the rows!

I made a second block to retest my directions  - and didn't pay attention to my which way I sewed the strips.    It was a happy accident and if you have one like me - don't fret, either layout will work!

Your choice to trim or not.  Final size is 12.5" square.

I'm excited to see what you create.
